BRENT SILBY
Brent holds a Masters Degree in Philosophy and currently teaches the subject at Unlimited (UPT) in Christchurch City, New Zealand. He has published papers on Philosophy of Mind in various journals published by the Denbridge Press, and has also self published a wide range of articles of Philosophical interest. Brent’s main research interests include: Philosophy of Mind, Information and Cybernetics, Evolution, Philosophy of Religion, and Philosophy of Music. Brent’s goal is to open Philosophy to a wide audience, hence much of his work can be described as “Cafe Philosophy”–interesting, highly accessible articles pitched at intelligent people with no specific background in Philosophy. Brent is on the executive committee of NZAPT (New Zealand Association for Philosophy Teachers), and is working with collegues to raise the status of Philosophy teaching in Secondary Schools.

MICHAEL COUCH
Michael Couch is completing his Ph.D. in the Philosophy of Education at the University of Canterbury and also has a background in History and Classical Studies. He was the first president of the NZ Association of Philosophy Teachers, and is its current Secretary/Treasurer. His interests are in the history and philosophy of education, ancient philosophy, political philosophy, ethical philosophy, and applied philosophy. His Ph.D. is looking at the philosophical underpinings of NZs secondary educational system, and exploring the correlation between these underpinnings and the Ministry of Education’s goals.

KYLE WEBB
Kyle completed his Bachelors of Arts with Honours at The University of Guelph in Canada in History and Philosophy. After completing his postgrad Teaching qualification at the University of Otago in Dunedin, NZ, he took up a position as Learning Advisor at Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti, a secondary school in Christchurch, NZ, where he now teaches English and Philosophy. Coming from a school system in which Philosophy is widely taught, Kyle hopes to encourage a love of Philosophy in his students. He would also like to extend passion for Philosophy throughout New Zealand. Planning on eventually doing a Masters in Philosophy, his interests also include the Beat movement, photography, pop culture, music, existentialism, and traveling.
